Morning Open Session: Technological Innovation and Transfer of Research Outcomes in the Age of AI

The opening ceremony kicked off in a warm and spirited atmosphere. Mr. Wenqiu Liu, the host organizer, delivered the opening address, extending a warm welcome to all attending experts, entrepreneurs, and industry peers. In his speech, he noted that with the rapid iteration of global artificial intelligence technologies, AI has become a core driver of international technological competition and industrial transformation. Consequently, issues surrounding IP rights confirmation and enforcement, compliance governance, and cross-border strategic disputes have become increasingly prominent. As a national innovation hub and pioneering demonstration zone for the AI industry, Shenzhen has gathered a vast number of tech companies and high-quality innovation resources, making it a focal point for AI technology deployment and industrial upgrading. Against this backdrop, establishing a specialized and international platform for AI intellectual property exchange is of great significance in helping enterprises overcome IP challenges, optimize their global IP portfolios, and enhance their core international competitiveness.
Professor Zhaohui Jiang, Lifetime Honorary Professor of Hiroshima Institute of Technology, Doctor of Engineering and renowned specialist in robotics and automatic control.
During the keynote session, Professor Zhaohui Jiang delivered an in-depth presentation titled “Japan’s National Policies and Intellectual Property Strategy for the Development of AI Robots.” As a seasoned expert in robotics and automatic control with over four decades of research experience in Japan, Professor Jiang systematically dissected Japan’s IP portfolio framework, patent protection rules, and industry-empowerment strategies for AI robots, drawing upon Japan’s national-level AI robotics industry support policies and sectoral development landscape. By comparing the differences in AI robot IP development between China and Japan, his presentation provided a valuable overseas reference model for domestic enterprises in their technological innovation and global IP strategy formulation.

Director Tan Li delivered a presentation focused on “Integration of Standards and Patents in the AI Era —— Global Rule Review and Industrial Practices.” With extensive experience in standard patent research at both national and provincial levels, she outlined the global SEP landscape in AI, analyzed trends, regulatory hurdles, and opportunities in standards-patents convergence, and offered practical guidance—grounded in real-world AI cases—to help enterprises navigate global rules, build SEP portfolios, and engage in industry standard-setting.

In the final session, Professor Huijuan Dong delivered an academic presentation on “Hot Issues on AI and Copyright Law.” Focusing on highly debated industry topics—including copyright ownership of generative AI content, infringement determination for AI-generated works, algorithm compliance, and data copyright protection—she conducted an in-depth legal analysis of the challenges in applying copyright law in the AI era, drawing upon the latest legislative and judicial developments both domestically and internationally. Her presentation provided authoritative legal and theoretical support for enterprises seeking to mitigate AI-related copyright legal risks.

The closing panel discussion, centered on the theme “Technological Innovation and Intellectual Property in the Age of AI,” was moderated by Mr. Wenqiu Liu, President of Shenzhen Enterprise Science and Technology Innovation Association.
