INTA Pre-annual Reception was Successfully Held in Shenzhen
On May 6, INTA Pre-annual Reception, which was hosted by Guangdong Intellectual Property Research Association and Shenzhen Promotion Association for Enterprise Technology Innovation and organized by Johnson IP Agency (Shenzhen) and Fair Law Firm, was successfully held in Shenzhen. About 100 people, including representatives of enterprises, IP agencies, and law firms from China and the Asian-Pacific region, attended this Reception.
Guo Sun, Manager of Johnson IP’s International Department, was the host of this meeting. She expressed her warm welcome for the attendees and introduced the guest speakers. “This was the first time that Johnson, as the member of INTA, cooperated with INTA, as well as the first INTA pre-annual reception in the Asian-Pacific region.” Miss Sun said, “Through this Reception, we hope people will increase the in-depth understanding of INTA and Shenzhen. Besides, we hope to furnish IP’s proposals and strategy to enterprises through in-depth communication and exchanging practical experiences .”
Later, Yalian Zhang from Guangdong IP Research Association and Yongwen WANG, the partner of Johnson IP, made the welcome speeches. Mr. Wang introduced the increasing number of Chinese (not including Hongkong and Macao) patent applications and trademark registrations, being 1.602 million and about 18 million respectively in 2018.
Chinese governments have adopted various measures to protect IP rights, such as the amendment of trademark law, severe punishment of infringement act, and enhancement of examination quality and efficiency. Changeyu SHEN, the commissioner of CNIPA, indicated that the trademark examination period would be shortened to less than 4 months in 2020 and the patent examination period would be reduced to 16 months approximately over the next four years.
This pre-annual Reception was separated into two parts – the seminar and cocktail party.
At the seminar, Xuebin ZHANG, deputy director of the protection division of Shenzhen IP Office, recommended the current situation and prospect of Shenzhen IP protection.
Wenqiu LIU from Shenzhen Promotion Association for Enterprise Technology Innovation and Johnson IP, shared IP industry cooperation under the Internet environment. The association and Johnson IP conducted in-depth communication with universities and enterprises by the way of holding regular salons, training, and speeches. Furthermore, the association and Johnson organize international IP forums each year with Shenzhen universities in order to provide an IP exchange platform for firms and IP associates. Companies from different industries, universities, and IP associates asked questions and exchanged ideas with the specialists about matters discussing above.
At the following cocktail party, people shared their INTA pre-annual attending experiences and exchanged hot topics of the trademark from all over the world.
