On April 10, the INTA 2025 Pre-Annual Meeting Reception (Shenzhen Stop) was successfully held. The event brought together global elites from the intellectual property (IP) sector to explore the practical approaches for Chinese enterprises going global. It aimed to provide innovative insights and strategic support for companies pursuing international expansion.
This event was hosted by the International Trademark Association (INTA) and co-organized by the Innovation and Creativity Committee of the Guangdong Trademark Association, Shenzhen Enterprise Science and Technology Innovation Association, Shenzhen Johnson Intellectual Property Agency (General Partnership), and Guangdong Fair Law Firm. It also received strong support from the Guangdong Trademark Association, Shenzhen Trademark Association, Foshan Shunde District Trademark Association, and the Qianhai Belt and Road Legal Services Federation of Shenzhen.

The event began with a video address from Mr. Etienne Sanz de Acedo, CEO of INTA. He emphasized the core role INTA plays in advancing global IP protection and fostering innovation, and shared his perspectives on the opportunities and challenges Chinese companies face in the globalization process.

Mr. Zhang Xuebin, Director of the IP Promotion Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Administration for Market Regulation (Shenzhen IP Office), delivered opening remarks on-site. He affirmed Shenzhen’s achievements in building an international innovation and technology hub and called for strengthened international cooperation in IP to enhance the global competitiveness of enterprises.

Ms. Su Hong, INTA’s Chief Representative in China, shared INTA’s global resources and practical experiences in supporting the international branding of Chinese enterprises. She also highlighted key features of the upcoming Annual Meeting in San Diego.

Mr. Yang Pan, Secretary-General of the Guangdong Trademark Association, and Mr. Liu Wenqiu, President of the Shenzhen Enterprise Science and Technology Innovation Association, respectively pointed out from an industry perspective that innovation is the core driving force of brand value, and enterprises need to build a moat through intellectual property layout.

Mr. Feng Chao, Senior Partner at Tahota Law Firm (Beijing), presented “INTA’s Practical Guide on IP for Chinese Enterprises Going Global.” Through case studies, he systematically introduced common IP risks and counterstrategies in the globalization journey, offering actionable insights for building international strategies.

Mr. Sun Xunyue, Director of IP and Innovation at Bear Electric Appliances, gave a talk titled “Where the Heart Leads, the Path Follows: Issues, Goals, and Strategies in Corporate IP Work.” He shared how the company achieved brand differentiation through R&D and patent strategy, demonstrating the vast potential of intellectual property.

Mr. Wang Yongwen, Founding Partner of Shenzhen Johnson Intellectual Property Agency (General Partnership), delivered a talk on “Successful Cases and Risk Prevention in Trademark Co-Branding.” He emphasized the need for a full-chain risk control system to navigate challenges in overseas markets.

A roundtable discussion was moderated by Ms. Sun Guo, Deputy General Manager of Johnson IP . Panelists included Mr. Liang Bowen, Senior Legal Director of Meituan South China; Mr. Yao Hongjun, Committee Member of Wanhuida IP; Ms. Wang Aimin, President of Macao Triumph International Group; Ms. Ruan Yuyin, Director of the International Department of Elite IP Group; and Mr. Albert Wai-Kit Chan, Partner at Kitchanlaw New York. Topics included “How Innovative Technologies Drive Global Brand Expansion” and “Cross-Border IP Dispute Resolution.” Panelists also shared insights on business development at INTA’s annual meetings.

As dusk fell over Shenzhen Bay, the reception transitioned into INTA’s signature social networking segment. Guests mingled over champagne, weaving new threads of cross-border collaboration and envisioning the future of the global IP ecosystem.

The event reinforced the role of innovation and IP in building core competitiveness amid globalization.
