Miss Aike DENG, deputy director of China (Shenzhen) Intellectual Property Protection Center, delivered a speech for the forum. Director Deng presented their dedication to the development of cross-border e-commerce intellectual property in recent years and pointed out that the role of intellectual property in the development of cross-border e-commerce cannot be ignored. At the same time, she expressed all her best wishes for the successful holding of the forum!
Mr. Wenqiu LIU, executive chairman of Shenzhen Enterprise Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Association, emphasized that cross-border e-commerce is developing very rapidly and also is a new driving force for the development of China’s foreign trade. He pointed out that we must attach more importance to the intellectual property portfolios in the development of cross-border e-commerce, so that Cross-border goods would be protected by intellectual property rights in foreign countries, and in result the excellent companies in China can move towards a larger world stage.
Mr. Yongwen WANG, the founding partner of Shenzhen Johnson Intellectual Property Agency(General Partnership) and Guangdong Fair Law Firm, shared the current situation and development prospects in the intellectual property industry so as to prepare the background of the IP industry for the speeches afterward.
In the session of speeches by guests, Mr. Guoliang LV, a consultant from the China Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), shared the knowledge of the Hague Agreement and the protection of intellectual property rights in cross-border e-commerce through a recorded video. Mr. LV started the topic with the revision of the Patent Law and China’s accession to the Hague System, describing the details of the Hague System which led to the features and advantages of the Hague System itself and the opportunities it can bring to cross-border e-commerce companies. Finally, combined with the latest statistics of Hague applications in 2022, he concluded that cross-border enterprises should further improve their independent capabilities of innovation and seize the initiative.
Mr. Haowen YU, Patent Manager of Anker Innovations Co., Ltd., shared the strategies for dealing with patent disputes in overseas trade. Mr. YU believes that it is accidental and inevitable that cross-border enterprises encounter patent disputes when going overseas, and we must cope with overseas disputes based on the Golden Circle Model (Why-How-What), persist in the patent portfolios for cross-border enterprises, and overcome difficulties.
Mr. Dingkai WANG, general manager of Jiapin Intellectual Property Consulting Service (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., shared the offensive and defensive patent strategy of cross-border e-commerce. Starting with the case where the neglect of patents from cross-border enterprise caused a huge loss, Mr.WANG analyzed patent portfolios in different dimensions, for instance, stage, sequence and management.
Miss Dongfang WANG, the lawyer and the chief representative in China of Ladas & Parry in the United States, shared with us the risk management of overseas intellectual property. Lawyer WANG started with the presentation of risks, then described every stage of risk management in the complex global trademark environment. She also introduced the tools for risk management to the business operations of cross-border enterprises.
This forum is one of the series of activities of TIIP international forum. As a professional forum, focusing on the current hot topics in cross-border e-commerce intellectual property rights in the CCBEC China (Shenzhen) Cross-border E-commerce Development Summit, it aims to build an effective platform for the exchange of intellectual property policies and regulations and promote the healthy development of the ecosystem for the cross-border e-commerce industry. This forum was held online and offline simultaneously, attracting more than 100 audiences and several media to participate.
